Cup, Demitasse
One demitasse cup from the dining room of a lighthouse or lightship of the U.S. Light House Service. The cup is made of white glazed china. It has straight sides that taper slightly to form a rounded bottom with a short circular base. A decorative scrollwork handle is located on the side of the cup. A narrow blue stripe is painted on the outside surface of the handle and similar narrow blue stripes encircle the outside of the cup at the rim and base. A circular blue emblem with an image of a lighthouse is stamped on the side of the cup. Small blue text along the perimeter of the emblem reads "United States Light House Service." The underside is stamped with small red text that reads "James M. Shaw & Co., New York, 1911." Additional stamped green text reads "Haviland, France."
