One "Addressograph" credit card charge slip printer. The "Data Recorder" model printer has a rectangular brown aluminum base, an aluminum/steel/plastic charge slip holder, and a manually-operated hinged steel/plastic arm with an internal roller. The hinged arm has a tan plastic housing with a steel lever and brown plastic handle.
To operate the printer, the sales cashier would place a customer charge card and a carbon paper charge slip onto the holder. The cashier would then push the hinged arm and lever downward onto the holder which would activate an internal mechanical roller to pass back and forth over the embossed text on the charge card and thereby create an imprint of the customer account information from the charge card onto the charge slip. The cashier would then handwrite the list of purchased items and charge amounts onto the slip for the customer's review and signature. The original slip would be retained by the cashier and a copy would be sent to the payment processor. The bottom copy would be given to the customer as a receipt.
