One framed informational sign from cabin number 343 of the passenger steamship, City of Detroit III, of the Detroit and Cleveland Navigation Company (D&C Line) fleet. The oval-shaped "Notice, Emergency Signals" sign consists of red and black printed text on white paper and gives information about emergency bell and whistle signals as well as a boat station number assignment. Small black and white photographic images show passengers how to put on a life preserver. The sign is held in a plain, chrome-plated brass frame that includes a protective glass cover. Metal tabs with holes are located at the top and bottom edges of the frame for securing the sign to a bulkhead with screws. The lower edge of the frame is stamped "343" and "D3 [City of Detroit III]."
