Codd began to read law under the preceptorship of Alfred Russell, who was one of the leading members of the Detroit bar at the time.
Occupation
1892 - Admitted to law practice in Michigan Courts and later Federal Courts.
- Associated in legal work with the firm of Griffin, Warner & Hunt, and in 1893 he received the appointment of assistant city attorney, served two and one-half years
- Became a member of the law firm of Warner, Codd & Warner, the firm was later dissolved in 1901 after the death of the senior member Carlos E. Warner
- Had individual practice until 1906
- Partner in law firm of Codd, Bishop and Kilpatrick
