Several female American Red Cross volunteers are standing by to help with the food service. One group of soldiers is seated on a bench at the left side of the photo and they are holding their plates as they eat. Painted brick walls, a window, and a doorway are visible in the background. Possibly this photo was taken at Fort Wayne or in a basement area of the Michigan Central Railroad Depot in Detroit.
