Print, Photographic

Print. Black and white photographic print, taken from an elevated vantage point, of the construction of the eighteen story addition of The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store on the corner of Woodward and Grand River Avenues. The steel from structure rises above the adjacent structure; a series of automobiles and mass transportation vehicles are visible in the intersection. Work trucks are parked on Grand River Avenue next to the construction. A large crow of pedestrians are visible on the street corner and underneath the scaffolding. Signage affixed to the scaffolding includes an image of the new building under construction and reads, "THE GREATER HUDSON STORE PLANNED BECAUSE WE BELIEVE IN A GREATER DETROIT." The photography studio and the geographic location are embossed on the recto, "Manning Bros., Detroit." Also, the photographic sequence number is printed on the bottom of the recto, "90098."
