Jefferson Avenue

Black and white copy of a stereoscopic view, entitled "Jefferson Ave," printed on photo paper. The pictures were taken from an elevated location, likely an upstairs window on the northeast corner of Jefferson Avenue and Woodward Avenue, of Jefferson, west toward Griswold Street. Pedestrians stand below. Several horse-drawn carriages and wagons are in view. Streetcar tracks run along the middle of Jefferson. A clock, topped with a statue of an eagle is attached to the corner of the building on the intersection's northwest corner. Several businesses and landmarks are visible including, Wholesale Grocers, the Michigan Insurance Company Building, and Heavenrich Brothers. "Detroit, Mich." and "For D.P. Works 148 Wood. Ave" is printed along the edges of the card in an ornate typeface. "1870s" handwritten on verso.
