Detroit 1968
Large format 42 page hardcover booklet published as part of Detroit's 1968 Summer Olympic bid packaged in a blue slipcase with a broken wax seal and a letter from President John F. Kennedy to Avery Brundage, president of the International Olympic Committee. The book is written in both English and French, and contains numerous photographs showing off the city coupled with passages about its automotive history, commerce, industry, art, famous residents including Minoru Yamasaki, attractions, sports, multiculturalism, foods, education, and the city's status as an international border town. Included at the end are copies of several official documents concerning the bid, from governor George Romney, mayor Jerome Cavanagh, Windsor mayor Michael Patrick, the Michigan legislature, the Common Council, and the Olympic committee. "Created and produced by MacManus, John & Adam, Inc., 1963," is printed on the bottom of the second to last page.
