A careless cord ... another cross

2-World War II posters with the message, "A careless word ... another cross." The multicolor poster shows a drawing of a single white cross marking a grave on a barren, brown, sandy landscape. A cartridge belt and helmet are hanging from the arms of the cross. The artist's name, "John Atherton," is shown in the lower right corner of the poster. Small printed text along the lower edge of the poster shows "OWI Poster No. 23. Additional copies may be obtained upon request from the Division of Public Inquiries, War Information Office, Washington, D. C." and U. S. Government Printing Office: 1943-O-501237."
