Contract Specifications, July 12, 1951, 94' Crash - Rescue Boat

Contract specifications for U.S. Navy Contract NOBS-5539, the prototype 94 foot long wooden rescue boat designed by John L. Hacker, and the Huron-Eddy Company, and built by Detroit Basin Incorporated. The document consists of 55 pages of correspondence and detailed descriptions of the boat's construction bound in a brown cardstock report cover. The first page is marked "Confidential" and includes the note, "Prepared in accordance with information obtained at a contract negotiation meeting -May 18, 1951; verbal proceeding instructions of May 27, 1951 and a telegraphic confirming dispatch -June 9, 1951.
The boat would go on to serve as U.S. Air Force patrol boat R-21-1251.
