U-Matic

U-Matic tape containing footage shot at a press conference announcing Amoco's involvement in raising funds for the Detroit Recreation Department's Partners summer camp program through the sale of "Do It In Detroit" drinking glasses at their gas stations. The event is held at the Amoco Station on the southwest corner of Jefferson Avenue and Montclair Street. The tape begins with a Rudy Johnson of the Metro Detroit Amoco Dealers speaking about the glass promotion. Tina Bassett then takes the microphone to explain that she is appearing on behalf of Mayor Coleman A. Young, who was suddenly unable to attend. She also explains the promotion. A WGPR van is visible in the background. The group pose for pictures. The latter portion of the tape is silent, and includes shots of the station's signs, the street signs above an "Are You Driving Too Fast?" sign, a check from the Amoco corporation to the city, the glasses, a tow truck with airbrushed painting of a
Hemphill tow truck with an airbrushed image of a man in a cowboy hat holding a stack of dollar bills on the door, and a sign explaining the glass promotion.

The video is on a 3M UCA-10 U-Matic tape with blank Sony KCA30 label applied over a previous label from Video Planning of New York. The tape is housed within a black plastic U-Matic case.
