Cross
One heavy brass altar cross from St. James Lutheran Church, Detroit. The cross is made of solid brass rectangular bars (1.5" wide x 0.47" thick) which have a decorative aluminum ornament affixed at the front intersection that shows the letters, "IHS," in old English script. The cross is mounted on a hexagonal cast brass base that has decorative matching relief designs on each of the six slanted top faces. The exterior surfaces of the cross and base have a smooth finish. A piece of unfinished wood is attached to the underside of the base with a single screw at the center. No manufacturer's name or marks are shown.
