Hat

One peaked cap worn by United Spanish War Veteran (USWV) chief musician/bugler, Joseph B. Hoffman. The cap has a navy blue wool fabric top, a black braided headband with a gold-colored strap across the front, and a black vinyl visor. The strap ends are attached at brass buttons that are located on the left and right sides of the hat. Two grommet-reinforced vent holes are also located on the left and right sides of the cap. The front of the cap has a decorative emblem that shows a lyre insignia for a U. S. Army musician. The inside has a brown leather headband and a size "7" label. A gold-colored label is printed on the inside top that shows "The Henderson-Ames Co., Kalamazoo, Mich., Patent Applied For." An adjacent typewritten paper label shows "21 Joseph Hoffman 7."
