Platter

One large serving platter from the dining room of the passenger steamship, SS Greater Detroit, of the Detroit & Cleveland Navigation Company (D&C Line). The oval-shaped platter is made of heavyweight, white glazed china. It has a flat, upturned rim with a thickened outer edge. Two narrow blue stripes encircle the rim just above the midpoint. A blue script "D&C" logo is stamped at a break in the stripes at the center of one of the long sides. The underside is stamped with blue text that reads, "Scammell's Lamberton China, Made Expressly for D&C Navigation Co.," and "M. F. Osborne Co., Detroit, Mich."
