Started drawing at the age of 10.

Worked as an elevator operator at the Detroit Free Press.
William E. Quinby (publisher) was impressed with Waltensperger's drawings, he paid tuition at the school of the Detroit Museum of Art and asked him to illustrate for the paper.

Studied under Joseph Gies at the old Detroit Museum of Art school.

He won a scholarship for $1000, at age 14, and completed 2 years of study in Paris.

Attended the Academie Julian in Paris, under Benjamin Constant.

Attended the Academie des Beaux Arts, in Paris, under Jean-Leon Gerome.

Returned to the States to work but travelled to Europe often after this.

Settled in Holland because he was inspired by the Dutch masters and with genre scenes.

Studied with Joseph Kraemer, Myron Barlow, and Fred Leipziger in Holland.

Exhibited at the Old Detroit Museum of Art before establishing Scarab club.

Exhibited at Crowley-Milners and Seventh Floor Picture Studios.

Waltensperger has works in the collections of the Detroit Institution of Art, Louvre and Rijksmuseum.

Died from a heart attack.
