One black and white photograph showing a partially collapsed cofferdam. The temporary cofferdam was located in southern Lake Huron at the site of a vertical shaft that was to be constructed for a new water intake for the Detroit Metropolitan Water Services. The elevated view shows three cells that collapsed due to storm damage and unstable soils. The watertight cofferdam structure consisted of seven 48-foot diameter cells that were arranged in a circle. Each cell was formed with a circle of steel sheet piling that was filled with sand and stone. Printed text in the lower right corner of the photo shows "Detroit Metropolitan Water Services, Contract No. LH-6A, Raw Water Intake, Lake Huron Station. Contractor: Dunbar Kiewit Port Huron, Photo No. 15, Date: 12-5-70, Photo By: Win Brunner."
