One black and white photograph showing a cofferdam under construction. The temporary cofferdam was located in southern Lake Huron at the site of a vertical shaft that was to be constructed for a new water intake for the Detroit Metropolitan Water Services. The aerial view shows three completed cells which were formed with circles of steel sheet piling and then filled with sand and stone. The finished watertight cofferdam structure was to consist of seven 48-foot diameter cells that were arranged in a circle. A construction barge with a crane is anchored adjacent to the work area. Printed text in the lower right corner of the photo shows "Detroit Metropolitan Water Services, Contract No. LH-6A, Raw Water Intake, Lake Huron Station. Contractor: Dunbar Kiewit Port Huron, Photo No. 7, Date: 8-17-70, Photo By: Win Brunner." Handwritten text on the verso shows "Barge Hilde."
