The photo shows an elevated port side view of the vessel which is at work in the approach area to a canal lock on a river. A workman is standing on a shoreline in the foreground. A lock wall is visible in the left background and a treed shoreline can be seen in the far background. A floating discharge pipeline can be seen off the transom of the dredge. A red ink stamp on the verso reads "House of Photography, Parkersburg, W. Va."
