Print, Photographic
One cabinet card photograph of James H. Donaldson of Detroit. The photo shows an oval-shaped, head and shoulders image of a young man. He has short, dark-colored hair, a moustache and goatee, and is wearing a dark suit coat and vest, a white shirt with a pointed collar, and a dark-colored silk bow tie. Black printed text on the verso reads "Grelling's Photographic Establishment, No. 231 Jefferson Avenue, Cor. Randolph St., Detroit, Mich." Handwritten black ink text reads "James H. Donaldson, about 1865."
(Note: A check of the photographer's address in the city directories indicates that the photo was taken in 1870 possibly or the early 1870's. The formal style of the clothes indicates that this may have been a wedding photo. James Donaldson was married in 1870.)
