Black and white photographic print depicting part of the turbine bucket set-up in the Department #35 Process Laboratory at the Champion Spark Plug Co.
Caption on verso reads, "The bucket is held in position by a vacuum chuck, shown at the front and bottom of the carriage that travels from each station. Note vacuum pump on top of machine - right hand end. The #1 spindle shown at left is where the profile on the edge of the bucket is ground on a formed wheel, the vacuum chuck being indexed 180 degrees. The trough is ground on the #2 spindle on a special high-speed grinding wheel operating at 5400 RPM. The #3 spindle is where the two sides of the Vee are ground with the radius blending smoothly into both faces. Spindles #1 and #3 are standard Champion turning machines with their formed wheels running at 3200 RPM."
