Letter

Michigan Military Academy

One letter, dated April 13, 1890, from McKinstry Burt of the Michigan Military Academy to his parents. The letter is handwritten in black ink on a sheet of slightly yellowed letterhead stationery from the Michigan Military Academy in Orchard Lake, Michigan. The text is transcribed as follows:

"Dear Papa and Mama,
I arrived here safely Monday night. We began Battalion Drill Friday and had Battalion Inspection outside this morning.
Everything is going along all right. It is as warm as summer out today. I guess we will have Dress Parade this afternoon. We are going to begin Cavalry tomorrow. Did you go out to see Uncle Dev. last week? We had Dress Parade this afternoon and Rock said that it was a fine Parade.
If they build that new hotel it will be a good thing for Jeff. Ave. There is nothing new, so I will have to close.
From your affectionate son,
McKinstry Burt."
