Plan sheet (sheet 13 of 17) from a set of lithographs that shows St. Mary's Falls Canal & Locks at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. This sheet, Plate 11, is entitled "St. Mary's Falls Canal. The Movable Dam." The sheet shows plan, profile, and cross section views of the movable dam which was located at the upstream end of the St. Mary's Falls Canal. The dam was used to drain the downstream end of the canal and the locks for maintenance work. The drawings and text are printed in black ink on slightly yellowed paper that has a black borderline. Small printed text at the lower right corner shows "N. Peters. Photo-Lithographer, Washington, D.C."
