A barge and crane are visible in the lower foreground and construction vehicles can be seen at work in the dock excavation area at the center of the photo. The frameworks of two large buildings can be seen under construction onshore in the background. The bulk carrier freighter, SS Henry G. Dalton, of the Interlake Steamship Company is moored at a dock in the left background. Railroad tracks and houses can be seen in the far background. A long warehouse building, "Erie International Marine Terminal No. 1, Port of Erie, Pennsylvania," can be seen at the far right side of the photo. Handwritten black ink text on the upper left edge of the photo reads "3 Erie Drydock."
