Photograph. Black and white photo showing the installation of an aerial power cable across the Detroit River. The view shows workers guiding the power cable as it is unwound from a large reel that is mounted on the aft deck of the tugboat, G. F. Becker. The tugboat is moving away from the American shoreline as workers and spectators watch. A classic wooden runabout is just astern of the tugboat and appears to be carrying a company official who is observing the work. The runabout is flying an "RC" (Race Committee) pennant on the bow and a yacht ensign on the stern. In the background, the Detroit Edison Delray electric power plant property can be seen on the left side of the barbed wire fence and the Fort Wayne property can be seen to the right.
