Photograph. Sepia-toned photo of a group of men who are inspecting and discussing proposed pavement construction on Woodward Avenue. The view looks along Woodward and shows three vehicles on the road in the background which include a Central Storage Company truck and two cars. Streetcar tracks can be seen at the far right side of the photo. The men are probably city and county officials (City of Detroit and Wayne County Board of Commissioners). They are all well-dressed and most of them are wearing overcoats and hats. A typewritten note on the verso shows "Wayne Co., Mich., Woodward Ave., leading northwest from Detroit, is one of the early concrete roads of Wayne Co. It is 18 ft. wide, and traffic census, taken at various periods of a number of years, show that approximately seven million vehicles have passed over its surface."
