Photograph. Sepia-toned photo of a group of officials who have been examining pavement construction on Wayne County roads and are taking a smoke break. They are standing off the road at a monument which consists of two large cannons that are enclosed within a decorative chain and concrete pillar fence. This might be the "War of 1812 Memorial" which was dedicated in 1908 at West Jefferson Avenue near Gibraltar Road. The monument was moved in 1958-1959 to the Parsons School in Gibraltar and was moved in 2005-2006 by the Brownstown Historical Society to its present location on South Gibraltar Road just east of West Jefferson Avenue.
