Transparency, Slide

One color slide transparency that shows an image of the Detroit 250th Birthday parade which took place on Saturday, July 28, 1951, on Woodward Avenue. The view looks northeastward from the west side of Woodward Avenue at Charlotte Street. Woodward Avenue can be seen in the foreground along with a group of marchers from the Moslem Shriners fraternal organization who are wearing uniforms and are carrying a sign with red text that reads "Moslem Detroit." Stores, office buildings, and spectators can be seen on the east side of Woodward in the background. The rounded dome of the Bonstelle Theatre can be seen in the left background. Business names that are visible include: Allied Music Sales Corporation, Watson Loan, Schmansky Brothers Men's Tailors, Fine Arts Theatre, and Bankle Supply Company. Handwritten blue ink text on the cardboard slide frame reads "Detroit's 250th Anniversary Parade."
