Carving

One African American folk art wood carving in the shape of a letter opener. The carving was done from a single piece of medium-grained wood (possibly walnut) and depicts a wide, spear-like blade with a blunt tip and a short, round rod handle. The handle includes three intricate "ball-in-a-cage" carvings. The wood has a light brown color. It has been sanded smooth and the surface is unfinished.
