Print, Photographic

One black and white photograph (and one copy) of the work operations for laying an underwater telephone cable across the Trenton Channel of the lower Detroit River. The photo shows a Dunbar & Sullivan Dredging Company barge with a cable reel and crane. Cable is unwinding from the reel and is passing over a guide bar before entering the river. Groups of workmen are standing or seated on the barge deck, and the tugboat, Paddy Miles, is moored alongside. In the foreground, a small marina with fuel pumps is visible along with a light pole, a dock, and the small tugboat, Norma B. The Grosse Ile shoreline is visible in the background.
