One black and white photograph of an underwater telephone cable being laid into a utility trench on the Trenton shoreline. The photo shows a crane and workmen who are lowering and guiding the cable into an open trench in the foreground. A large number of Michigan Bell Telephone Company officials, who are wearing hardhats, are standing at the left side of the photo. A barge with a crane and cable reel are visible at the edge of the shoreline in the center background. The bow and bridge of the tugboat, Sachem, of the Dunbar & Sullivan Dredging Company, can be seen behind the barge.
