170 East Jefferson Avenue
Mariners' Church was built in 1849 as a sailor's mission with funds provided in the will of Charlotte Ann Taylor and her sister, Mrs. Julia Ann Anderson. Designed by Calvin N. Otis, it is a simple stone structure in the Tudor Gothic style. In 1955 it was moved from lower Woodward Avenue to its present location on Jefferson Avenue at Randolph Street to make way for the new Civic Center. The tower was added after the moving.
